First-time ever two rarities are unified on 1 DVD.

Magnificent recordings of Weber and Haydn's sacral works from stunning venues.

Rafael Kubelik and Horst Stein conduct famous German orchestras and choirs.

Carl Maria von Weber composed the “Missa Sancta No. 1” in ocassion of the name day of King Friedrich August I of Saxony. Weber himself conducted the first performence in the Dresden Hofkirche in 1818. Thanks to the creation at the very same time it is also called “Freischützmesse”. More than 250 years later the rarely performed work is revived in the Basilika Waldsassen. Horst Stein, longtime principal conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and famous for his work at Bayreuth Festival, conducts a first class cast with the soloists Krisztina Laki, Marga Schiml, Josef Protschka and Jan-Hendrik Rootering.

Arthaus Musik presents the performance of Haydn's “Missa Sanctae Ceaciliae” conducted by Rafael Kubelík live from the Basilika Ottobeuren. The work is a one of the highlights of the wonderful Kubelík era. Under his guidance the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks also has become one of the world's foremost Haydn orchestras. When the orchestra found the baroque Basilica of Ottobeuren as the perfect venue for sacred and romantic repertoire, their concerts enjoyed huge popularity, leaving a lasting impression on those who experienced them at first hand.

Embarking on a series of recordings of classical originals for symphonic wind band is an adventurous quest. We decided to compile German-Austrian gems on this second volume, illustrating the development and expansion of the symphonic wind band of nearly one-and-a-half centuries: from Beethoven (1810) to Hindemith (1951).

Richard Strauss composed Variationen über 'Wilhelm von Oranien' in 1892. The former principal conductor of the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, major Pieter Jansen, rediscovered this work in the archives of the Royal House of the Netherlands in 1999. It became our National Anthem in 1932, but the melody dates back to at least 1572. Another work on this CD that was published only twenty years ago is the beautiful and virtuosic Nocturne by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. Two marches by composers no less than Beethoven and Bruckner, should naturally be included on a CD by a military band, representing a different and lesser-known part of their repertoire.

We conclude our journey with three twentieth century German Austrian giants: Paul Hindemith, Arnold Schoenberg and Kurt Weill.

In 2017 the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy appointed maestro Arjan Tien as its principal conductor and music director. Musicians and critics alike appreciate his interpretations for their warmth, energy and sensitivity, and he is widely considered to be one of the most versatile conductors of his generation.

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Kathryn Stott create a unique classical music experience with their new Sony Classical recording Songs from the Arc of Life available September 18, 2015. This all-new recording also celebrates thirty years of friendship and collaboration in concerts and recordings for Ma and Stott. The album includes pieces they have frequently performed but never recorded, as well as a handful of discoveries. Songs from the Arc of Life begins and ends with two, much-beloved settings of the traditional “Ave Maria,” opening with the soaring, radiant Bach/Gounod arrangement and closing with Schubert's more serene, contemplative version. In between is a remarkable spectrum of music that includes such enduring favorites as Brahms' “Lullaby,” Dvořák's “Songs My Mother Taught Me,” Elgar's “Salut d'amour,” Gade's “Jalousie” and Saint-Saëns' “The Swan,” as well as richly evocative works by Debussy, Delius, Fauré, Gershwin, Grieg, Kriesler, Messaien, Schumann, Sibelius and Tchaikovsky. Ma and Stott also include a haunting piece by the contemporary composer Giovanni Sollima, a friend and colleague of both artists.

The new album from Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble will surprise and delight with imaginative sounds that transform the traditional musical landscape. SING ME HOME is the sixth album by the Grammy®-nominated Silk Road Ensemble and its founding member and guiding light, Yo-Yo Ma.

The album features special guest performers Rhiannon Giddens, Sarah Jarosz, Abagail Washburn, Gregory Porter, Lisa Fischer, Grammy Award®-winning jazz guitarist, Bill Frisell, and more.

Produced by Silk Road Ensemble member Johnny Gandelsman and Grammy Award® winner Kevin Killen (U2, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, David Bowie), SING ME HOME examines the ever-changing idea of home, with original and traditional tunes composed or arranged by members of the Ensemble's unique collective of global artists. Each piece invites listeners to explore the “music of home” through the individual experiences of Ensemble members, many of whom are immigrants. The result is a compelling collection of innovative and deeply moving tributes to the rich cultural heritage of the Balkans, China, Galicia, India, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Mali people of Roma, Syria and the United States.

SING ME HOME was developed and recorded alongside The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma & the Silk Road Ensemble, a documentary feature film from Oscar® and Emmy®-winning director Morgan Neville that tells the story of the Ensemble and Silk Road, its parent organization. The documentary had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13 2015.

Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Project has been on a mission to promote innovation and cross-cultural understanding through the arts for the last fifteen years; the latest chapter comes with the release of their new album, A Playlist Without Borders. The vision of Yo-Yo Ma's limitless collective is as timely as ever: to connect the world's neighborhoods by bringing together artists and audiences. From flashy surf guitar sounds to ninth century Chinese poetry, from modular playlists to Egyptian rhythms, the Silk Road Ensemble mixes the modern and the traditional, breaking boundaries of ethnicity and era. A Playlist Without Borders demonstrates that there are no barriers for those approaching music with an open mind.

Founded by Yo-Yo Ma, the Silk Road Ensemble has featured more than sixty members from twenty-four countries and has been described as “a kind of roving musical laboratory without walls” by the Boston Globe and hailed as “one of the 21st century's great ensembles” by the Vancouver Sun.

Sony Classical is proud to announce the release of Yo-Yo Ma's new album Six Evolutions - Bach Cello Suites, his third and final recording of these works. Bach and his Cellos Suites entered Yo-Yo Ma's life when he was four, when he learned the first measure of the Prélude to Suite No. 1 under his father's instruction. Ma has never lost his initial fascination.

“Bach's Cello Suites have been my constant musical companions,” Ma writes of the music. “For almost six decades, they have given me sustenance, comfort and joy during times of stress, celebration and loss. What power does this music possess that even today, after three hundred years, it continues to help us navigate through troubled times?”

Ma is more convinced than ever of the suites' ability to create shared meaning that extends far beyond the here and now. The suites' collective vision - at once divergent and coherent, empathic and objective - reminds us of all that connects us despite an increasingly discordant public conversation.

The August release of Six Evolutions also signals the beginning of a two-year, six-continent journey in which Yo-Yo Ma will devote himself to Bach's music, playing all six Cello Suites in a single setting in familiar and unlikely locations.

Six Evolutions - Bach: Cello Suites will not only offer an essential encapsulation of what this music means now to one of the world's most celebrated artists, it begins a new chapter in the cellist's 58-year relationship with this music.

'Never Far Away' features four orchestral pieces by Chinese composer Bright Sheng, Shanghai Overture, the short ballet The Nightingale and the Rose, and Tibetan Love Song and Swing. The title piece, Never Far Away is a wonderful harp concerto that stretches the instrument's capabilities to the limit. It was commissioned and is performed by the pre-eminent soloist Yolanda Kondonassis.

Hailed by The New York Times for her “powerful playing and musicianly energy,” Yolanda Kondonassis is considered one of the world's foremost harpists. She made her solo debut at age 18 with The New York Philharmonic and has since appeared as guest artist with countless orchestras around the world. This disc marks her fifteenth on the Telarc label.

The Berlin Album - Yuja Wang's impassioned survey of landmark works by Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Ligeti and Prokofiev

Yuja Wang stirs memories of legendary artists with interpretations of boundless imagination, jaw-dropping technical command and transcendent power

Companion EP captures beauty and eloquence of Yuja Wang's Berlin encore pieces.

Yuja Wang's philosophy of music is both simple and profoundly complex. “I want to relate all life to music,” she recently told veteran British critic Fiona Maddocks. The Beijing-born pianist's latest album for Deutsche Grammophon, set for international release on 23 November 2018, captures the white heat of solo works by Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Scriabin and Ligeti, a trio of Russians together with one of the late 20th-century's greatest composers. The Berlin Recital was recorded live this summer at the Berlin Philharmonie's Kammermusiksaal during Yuja's extensive solo tour of North America and Europe. The Yellow Label also recorded her sublime series of Berlin encore pieces to form a separate EP, which spans everything from the riffs and roulades of Nikolai Kapustin's jazz-tinged Toccatina to Earl Wild's sonorous transcription of the Pas de Quatre from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.
