A prolific composer of instrumental music including symphonies, Leopold Koželuch was one of the most prominent Bohemian composers working in Vienna during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His best works reveal an impressive command of the musical language of viennese classicism and at times a lyricism that seems to foreshadow the youthful works of Schubert. This recording draws on original sources and corrects a number of mistakes encountered in previously published versions.

Rodolphe Kreutzer's final three violin concertos are among his greatest achievements as a composer.

While handling a Beethovenian orchestra with a craftsman's sure touch, it is the purity and depth of tone, energetic fire and complete technical mastery required of the soloist that set these works among the most perfect examples of the French violin concerto.

Axel Strauss, Professor of Violin at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and heard on concert stages worldwide, has been acclaimed “an excellent violinist who plays these with wit and verve” (Limelight).

Naxos plans to record all of Kreutzer's violin concertos.

These two concertos - one a staple of the repertoire, the other almost unknown - share melodic richness and a Spanish influence. Lalo's Symphonie espagnole reflects the quicksilver technique of its dedicatee, Pablo de Sarasate, in its ingenious and virtuosic passagework, with its moods and rhythms indelibly Iberian in feel. Joan Manén, in his day almost as famous as his fellow Catalan Pau Casals, was an admired virtuoso violinist and a prominent composer. His Concierto español, the first of three violin concertos, is suffused with technical demands, lyric warmth, and rhapsodic nostalgia. Soloist Tianwa Yang's Sarasate recordings have received international acclaim.

Winner of the prestigious Echo Klassik Instrumentalist of the Year 2015 Award for her Naxos recording Ysaÿe's 6 Sonatas for Solo Violin, the Best Up-and-Coming Artist 2014 Award and the Annual Prize of the German Record Critics 2014 for her Naxos recordings of the Mendelssohn Violin Concertos and Complete Music for Violin by Sarasate, Tianwa Yang is referred to as “an unquestioned master of the violin” by American Record Guide who “rises above her competition” (Fanfare), while quickly establishing herself as a leading international performer and recording artist. Of her previously released recordings of Pablo de Sarasate's complete works for violin, David Hurwitz of ClassicsToday.com calls Ms. Yang a “sensationally talented violinist,” while All Things Strings speaks of her “stunning effortless virtuosity” and “uncanny affinity for Spanish music.”

Mezzo-soprano Lena Belkina's first album garnered high praise: “She sings Desdemona's 'Willow Song' from Rossini's Otello with lyrical intensity... Nacqui all'affanno e al pianto” from La Cenerentola is sharp-witted and brilliant”, opined Das Opernglas, while WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung) wrote: “The coloratura is splendidly placed whether she's mobilizing Tudor fury (in Anna Bolena), questioning her heart in the Barber of Seville or letting the soul of 'Tanti affetti' (La donna del lago) overflow with elegant beauty.”

For her second album, “Classic Vienna”, she has recorded the most famous representatives of Viennese Classicism, Mozart (1756-1791), Haydn (1732-1809) and Gluck (1714-1787), with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Andrea Sanguinetti. Her Mozart selections include the aria “Parto, ma tu ben mio” from La clemenza di Tito, “Il padre adorato” from Idomeneo and the concert aria “Ch'io mi scordi di te?”. She sings Gluck's arias “Che puro ciel” from Orfeo ed Euridice and “Oh, del mio dolce ardor” from Paride ed Elena as well as Haydn's aria “Se non piange un' infelice” from L'isola disabitata and his Scena di Berenice. The programme is rounded off with the overtures from Mozart's Così fan tutte, Gluck's Armide and Haydn's Acide e Galatea.

“They come from the mean streets of south London but sing like little angels” (The Evening Standard)
Familiar to audiences across the world, the boys have a stunningly original sound, which is at once both ancient and modern. Their distinctive flowing white robes symbolise the traditional origins of their style - yet their music reaches across the generations to a new mainstream audience. LIBERA's success in album charts around the world bears witness to the extraordinary appeal of this unique 'boy band'. Enchanting audiences wherever they go, they have attracted an enthusiastic fan base in many countries, particularly the United States, Great Britain, Japan, Korea and this year also in the Philippines.

Peace follows the success of Libera's best-selling albums Angel Voices, Free, Visions and New Dawn. Each CD has been characterised by the ensemble's distinctive celestial, shimmering sound with mystical chords and ecstatic harmonies. The programme comprises songs drawn from plainsong and traditional hymns, based on themes by Mozart, Saint-Saëns, César Franck and Chopin and by Robert Prizeman and John Rutter.

Libera's founder, the composer/arranger/conductor Robert Prizeman, said, 'It is a great privilege to work regularly with the young singers of Libera, an honour to play a part in their musical development, to be fired up and challenged by their talent, bubbling enthusiasm and freshness. Each new Libera album offers me unique opportunities to write and arrange music to suit the particular sounds and talents of the current group of boys. The writing and arranging responds to the singers and vice versa - there is a mutual inspiration.'

The name Libera comes from the band's signature song based on the Libera Me portion of the Requiem Mass. The boys who make up Libera are between the ages of seven and fourteen, come from a variety of backgrounds and attend local schools. 'Normal” boys who still love to play football, skateboard, listen to R'n'B and punk music, through their involvement in Libera they have travelled the world, recorded movie soundtracks and CDs and served as backing singers to Elton John, Björk and Pavarotti. But, as one of the boys said, “The travelling and filming is fun but even if we didn't go anywhere I'd still want to do it because I just love singing.” That joy of singing comes across clearly in their performances and on their recordings.

Libera's original sound is both ancient and modern. Their flowing white robes symbolise the traditional origins of their style but their music reaches out across generations to a mainstream audience.

A selection of Richard Strauss's most-loved lieder and songs, and Elisabeth's arias from Wagner's Tannhäuser, the role in which Lise Davidsen will make her debut at Bayreuth Festival. Plus Ariadne's aria from Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos: her 2017 Glyndebourne debut in the title role was named “one of those 'I was there' moments” (The Times).

Also includes Strauss's iconic Four Last Songs, originally premiered by Decca's Kirsten Flagstad. Recorded with the Philharmonia Orchestra, who performed the premiere of the Four Last Songs, and Finnish conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Lise Davidsen is the first Scandinavian soprano to sign to Decca since Birgit Nilsson, and the first Norwegian singer to join Decca since Kirsten Flagstad's acclaimed recordings in 1950s. She is winner of The World Opera Competition, Plácido Domingo's Operalia (2015), winner of The Queen Sonja International Music Competition (2015), and Gramophone Young Artist of the Year (2018).
