Inspiring young classical saxophonist Jess Gillam presents her debut album 'Rise'. It is a collection of pieces which showcase her phenomenal talent and diverse musical taste, ranging from Marcello and Shostakovich to David Bowie and Kate Bush.

Jess Gillam's new album 'Rise' reflects her own musical journey and the pieces which have inspired her in her career. She recorded it with the BBC Concert Orchestra and chamber musicians, as well as celebrated guitarist MILOŠ, who features on the track 'Flow My Tears' - a transcription of the familiar Renaissance lute song by John Dowland.

The album includes beautiful cover versions of songs by two of Jess's biggest heroes: Kate Bush's ballad 'This Woman's Work' and David Bowie's timeless 'Where Are We Now?'. There are also familiar hits from the world of film, such as 'Closing In' by John Williams (as featured in Steven Spielberg's 2002 film Catch Me If You Can), Michael Nyman's 'If' (from The Diary of Anne Frank) and the bonus track, Francis Lai's 'Theme from Love Story'.

The recording also features two of Jess' signature pieces: 'Pequeña Czarda' by Pedro Iturralde, which she played in BBC Young Musician 2016 wind category final, and Darius Milhaud's 'Brazileira' from Scaramouche, which she performed to great acclaim at the Last Night of the Proms - described by BBC News as the “indisputable highlight” of last year's spectacular event at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

A colleague of Mendelssohn, the Schumanns and Brahms, the virtuoso violinist Joseph Joachim was himself a composer of note.

His exuberant single-movement Opus 3 Violin Concerto from around 1851 was dedicated to Liszt, from whom he subsequently distanced himself. It is a tour de force by a highly gifted twenty year old.

The Opus 11 Violin Concerto followed six years later, its Classical three movements frequently coloured by Hungarian inflections, most strikingly in the 'gypsy finale' which calls for astonishing technical control, immense stamina and fiery abandon from the soloist.

Suyoen Kim is the Winner of the 2006 Hannover International Violin Competition. “Suyoen Kim plays with the technical brillance and musical maturity that have already brought her, at the age of 18, to the attention of conductors like Kurt Mazur and Seiji Ozawa.” The Strad

For her second Deutsche Grammophon album, former Royal Harpist Catrin Finch plays music by the beloved British composer, John Rutter, as well as new pieces and arrangements of her own.

It includes new works by John Rutter, and the World Premiere recording of his Suite Lyrique for harp and strings. Further highlights include arrangements of traditional Welsh folksongs, where Catrin Finch is joined by star award-winning Welsh soprano Elin Manahan Thomas.

John Rutter is probably the world's most-performed choral composer, with decades of best selling compositions and arrangements to his name - including an anthem specially commissioned for the royal wedding by Prince William and Kate Middleton, and some of the most loved Christmas carols of modern times.

Mahler's masterpiece is subtitled as - A Symphony for Tenor and Alto (or Baritone) - and therefore traditionally two voices have sung the six movements of the work. However Jonas Kaufmann feels differently about this and wanted to sing both parts himself. In June this year he joined the Wiener Philharmoniker and conductor Jonathan Nott in a special concert in the Goldener Saal at the Musikverein in Vienna whereby he sang the entire work himself.

Following the success of the album 'Wien', esteemed tenor, Jonas Kaufmann, returns with a DVD and BluRay release of 'Mein Wein'. This is Jonas Kaufmann's deeply personal tribute to the world-famous melodies from Vienna, the birthplace of waltz and operetta and follows up the album release from Fall 2019. The 100-minute film consists of Jonas Kaufmann's Wiener Konzerthaus concert interspersed with documentary-style segments where Jonas Kaufmann explores the city's fascinating lighter musical heritage.

'Wien' features a stunning collection of operetta hits and Viennese songs composed between 1870 and 1950. Kaufmann teams up with the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Adam Fischer. His concert from the Wiener Konzerthaus includes well-known Viennese songs like “Wien, Wien nur du allein”, “Im Prater blühn wieder die Bäume”, “Sag beim Abschied leise 'Servus'”. He also sings scenes from famous operettas such as The Merry Widow, Wiener Blut and Die Fledermaus where soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen joins him on the duets. The city also inspired many timeless songs including Robert Stolz's “Im Prater blühn wieder die Bäume” and Rudolf Sieczyński's “Wien, Wien nur du allein”, Hans May's “Heut ist der Schönste Tag”; Hermann Leopoldi's “In einem kleinen Café in Hernals” and Georg Kreisler's “Der Tod muss ein Wiener sein” - to name a few of these charming songs championed down the years by the tenor-greats such as Richard Tauber, Rudolf Schock and Fritz Wunderlich.

Kaufmann has won numerous prestigious awards including Gramophone Awards and Echo Klassik Awards.

Jonas Kaufmann returns to the Italian verismo tradition to sing arias that define opera's most passionate and vulnerable leading men.

Kaufmann's international reputation is soaring as, going from strength to strength, he delivers consistently thrilling performances.

The onyx-dark beauty of his tone and the refinement and unexpected insights of his delivery mark Jonas Kaufmann a poet of tenors.

Timed for release when he makes his anticipated role debut as Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur at Covent Garden opposite Angela Gheorghiu, this disc includes excerpts from the Cilea work that helped put Caruso on the map.

This album also entices with rarities from Zandonai's dramatic Giulietta e Romeo and Puccini's Le Villi.

Supporting Jonas Kaufmann is Italy's leading symphonic orchestra, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, under its dynamic music director Antonio Pappano. Both maestro and orchestra are utterly at home in this repertoire.

Esteemed tenor, Jonas Kaufmann, returns with his sensational new album 'WIEN'. This must-have album showcases the crowd-pleasing evergreens that turned Vienna into a beloved capital of classical music. 'WIEN' features a stunning collection of operetta hits and Viennese songs composed between 1870 and 1950 - Kaufmann teams up with the world renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Adam Fisher. Vienna's heyday for operetta produced stage-hits such as Johann Strauß's 'Komm in die Gondel' (from Eine Nacht in Venedig / A Night in Venice) the 'Clock Duet' from Die Fledermaus and the 'Title duet' from Wiener Blut, as well as Franz Léhar's 'Lippen Schweigen' from The Merry Widow. The city also inspired many timeless songs including Robert Stolz's 'Im Prater blühn wieder die Bäume' and Rudolf Siecznski's 'Wien, Wien nur du allein', Hans May's 'Heut ist der Schönste Tag'; Hermann Leopoldi's 'In einem kleinen Café in Hernals' and Georg Kreisler's 'Der Tod muss ein Wiener sein' - to name a few of these charming songs championed down the years by the tenor-greats such as Richard Tauber, Rudolf Schock & Fritz Wunderlich - Kaufmann has won numerous prestigious awards including Gramophone Awards and Echo Klassik Awards.

Jonas dedicates his new album to the golden era of German music which flourished in Berlin between 1925 & 1935. He shows an undeniable mastery of this demanding repertoire, which was written for the leading tenors of the time.

'Lied vom Leben des Schrenk' by Künneke in particular has only been recorded 3 times before and is hugely challenging vocally. Jonas draws inspiration from an artistically rich and fascinating time of European musical history. The repertoire ranges from the Lehár-Tauber-Hits of the Roaring Twenties until the heyday of the mid 1930s which saw the eventual expulsion and banning of the composers, lyricists and singers who had defined the genre.

The repertoire draws from 3 strands of musical history (Talking movies, Operetta and Polystylistic composers) and shows Jonas' voice at its most flexible.

The album naturally also includes operetta evergreens by the unbeatable composer-tenor pairing of Franz Lehàr and Richard Tauber - including “Dein ist mein ganzes Herz”, “Hab' ein blaues Himmelbett ” and “Gern hab ich die Frauen geküßt”.

Jonas' favoured encores - Richard Tauber's famous self-penned “Du bist die Welt für mich” and “Ein Lied geht um die Welt” made famous by Joseph Schmidt in the movie of the same title - are also included.
