In the midst of his work on Star Wars' Final Episode IX John Williams has created and conducted a complete album with Anne-Sophie Mutter and in mutual admiration. It presents his personal selection of iconic themes as well as rediscovered gems from more than 40 years of his music for film.

The music ranges from Star Wars motifs (“Luke and Leia” from Return of the Jedi) to more recent pieces (“Hedwig's Theme” from Harry Potter) Two themes from Williams' Oscar-winning Schindler's List score (the main theme and “Remembrances”) are also featured. A few more surprising choices include new versions of themes from Cinderella Liberty and Dracula, originally written in the 1970s and rarely performed since then.

Sol y vida is Elīna Garanča'sjourney to the South, from Spain to Italy and Latin America, and is her first album focusing entirely on non core-classical repertoire.

Be ready to expect a personal album from the mezzo-soprano, whose centre of life has been Spain for many years. A selection of songs, canzone and tango pieces, both mirroring and spreading a flamboyantly emotional array of beaming happiness, passionate longing and exuberant joy. A feast of vocal colours, and a firework of passion, from the well-known Granada to the intimate world of La Llorona.

Featuring jewels of Latin American song repertoire like Piazolla's Yo soy Maria, originally part of a tango operita and Gracias a la vida, one of the most covered Latin American songs in history both featuring guitarist Jose Maria Gallardo del Rey in new intimate arrangements. Many of the popular pieces have mainly been sung by tenors, like “Core 'ngrato”, which was probably written for Caruso or the popular Neapolitan songs “Torna a surriento” or “Canto napoletano”.

Inspiring young classical saxophonist Jess Gillam presents her debut album 'Rise'. It is a collection of pieces which showcase her phenomenal talent and diverse musical taste, ranging from Marcello and Shostakovich to David Bowie and Kate Bush.

Jess Gillam's new album 'Rise' reflects her own musical journey and the pieces which have inspired her in her career. She recorded it with the BBC Concert Orchestra and chamber musicians, as well as celebrated guitarist MILOŠ, who features on the track 'Flow My Tears' - a transcription of the familiar Renaissance lute song by John Dowland.

The album includes beautiful cover versions of songs by two of Jess's biggest heroes: Kate Bush's ballad 'This Woman's Work' and David Bowie's timeless 'Where Are We Now?'. There are also familiar hits from the world of film, such as 'Closing In' by John Williams (as featured in Steven Spielberg's 2002 film Catch Me If You Can), Michael Nyman's 'If' (from The Diary of Anne Frank) and the bonus track, Francis Lai's 'Theme from Love Story'.

The recording also features two of Jess' signature pieces: 'Pequeña Czarda' by Pedro Iturralde, which she played in BBC Young Musician 2016 wind category final, and Darius Milhaud's 'Brazileira' from Scaramouche, which she performed to great acclaim at the Last Night of the Proms - described by BBC News as the “indisputable highlight” of last year's spectacular event at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Pianist Rafał Blechacz is returning with beautiful, ecstatic and very colorful French/Polish chamber music repertoire. For his first ever chamber music recording on DG he teams up with the supreme musicianship of Korean violinist Bomsori Kim.

Polish melancholy and French elegance are connecting to a wonderfully symbiotic relationship in music, a point well illustrated by the works of Frédéric Chopin, who, Polish by birth, settled in France.

For their first album together Bomsori Kim and Rafał Blechacz decided to combine pieces from both of those countries.

Rafal's playing is characterized by its elegance, delicacy, and a poetic solemnity that has invited comparison to legendary pianists including Krystian Zimerman, who is a Blechacz supporter.

Bomsori is a celebrated young stellar artist in Korea who is on the way to the top of the international violin scene.

They will perform repertoire from the album live on tour at venues in South Korea and Europe next spring.

This album will be released in connection with the DG120 celebrations.
