Most botanical gardens include succulents in their collections; few are devoted solely to them. In Succulent Paradise, the reader is taken on a verbal and visual tour of twelve exceptional succulent gardens. See how a handful of landscaping and horticultural visionaries have juxtaposed indigenous and exotic plants with a blend of natural and created landscaping elements. Experience the impact and style of gardens in locations as diverse as steeply terraced Mediterranean cliffs, dusty Karoo plains, Mexico City's metropolis, California's canyons, and the red desert of Arizona.

The authors have visited gardens around the world dedicated to the display, cultivation and propagation of succulent plants. In Succulent Paradise, they have expressed their love of these tenacious, yet surprisingly glamorous, plants as well as appreciation for those whose vision and persistence has created abundance, promoted conservation, and left a legacy for future generations.

Authored by two leading international experts on aloes and their kin, Gideon F Smith and Estrela Figueiredo, both of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa and the University of Coimbra in Portugal. Books have been written about aloe species before, but Garden aloes is a world-first, dealing with a range of the most desirable aloe cultivars and hybrids, all of which are exceptionally suitable for planting in gardens. These enhanced aloes have never before had a book dedicated to them. Garden aloes is comprehensively illustrated with full-colour photographs that show the growth forms and a range of the characters that make these plants some of the most desirable to grow in any garden. Identification of the cultivars is made easy through descriptions and a range of images of the plants, their inflorescences and flowers. In the book: the book is comprehensively illustrated with over 300 full-colour photographs of the plants, growth forms, inflorescences and flowers, informative descriptions and flowering periods are provided for more than 60 widely grown and exceptional cultivars and hybrids currently available and the species are arranged in 20 groups according to size and flower colour, making it easy to select what is suitable for your garden.

Common names of Angolan plants presents an updated and expanded catalogue of several thousand common names recorded for the indigenous and exotic floristic riches of Angola. Separate alphabetical lists of common names and accepted scientific names are provided and reference is made to the synonyms under which they were recorded. Where known, the languages are given throughout. The book provides biodiversity specialists and researchers in a broad spectrum of scientific and other endeavours, linguists, students and other stakeholders with the basic information on the common names of Angolan plants that has been unavailable for a long time. It represents a further critically important step towards assembling the knowledge of the flora of the country into a single, modern, easily accessible and scientifically sound framework.
